Since 2008 the organization implemented two Tis (Targeted Intervention) that focus on people living with HIV/AIDS, Injecting Drug User (IDU), Female Sex Worker (FSW) aiming to eradicate the numerous uses of drugs and its relating problems. We continue to work on reducing the hazardous spread of HIV/AIDS in Thenzawl, Serchhip district and Khawzawl in Khawzawl district.

In both the TI's, the common service provided are Behaviour Change Communication, Access to STI services and provision of commodities to ensure safe practices TI programme ensure safe practices by providing choices and options of easy accessibility, availability and acceptability.

  1. Targeted Intervention (TI) Thenzawl

It deals with Injecting Drug User (IDU) and Female Sex Worker (FSW). As on April 2024, Thenzawl DIC, registered clients include 278 IDU, 58 FSW and 66 IDU dispensing for OST, who are all in the age group of 19 – 44.

Activities undertaken/ Work Done:

  • Advocacy meeting was held in different places with different community leaders. It is held 12 times during 2023 – 2024 regarding needle/syringe exchange programme and on OST.

  • Numbers of Health Camp: 2

  • Numbers of Community Events: 2

  • Community Clean up: which is done every month throughout the year.

  • 4 days In-house training which is held at DIC conference hall on Mapping of population size estimation.

  • M apping 3 areas in and around the town of Thenzawl which is done by the staff, in this mapping the main aim is to find out how many High-Risk groups are there in the area.

  • Strengthening Outreach Activities in 3 places.

  • DIC levels meetings which is done every month.

  • New syringe dispense center where the client freely exchange their syringe through One Community member.

  1. Targeted Intervention (TI) Khawzawl: Besides the main DIC in Vengthar Khawzawl town, it has four sub-DICs:

  1. Sub-DIC Zuchhip, (Satellite OST Centre)

  2. Sub–DIC Kawlkulh (Satellite OST Centre)

  3. Sub-DIC Khawhai (Satellite Ost Nurse)

  4. Sub-DIC Rabung (Satellite OST Centre)

Unlike the distribution of OST in the main centre DIC, it is mostly given out to clients in the morning between 7-9am in 4 sub DICs so that their daily schedule is not disturb rather than of following a particular office hour.
